I wake up with difficulty and I go to eat something in the dining room of the chateau. Just finished my “croissant”, and we go to the circuit. Today are Pitwalk day opened to all spectators on the circuit and drivers’ parade in the city of Le Mans.
Today is also the day of the arrival of three friends met seven years ago in the simracing community (motorsport simulation). Friends that i’ve never met in real life, except for one of them, Kevin. I had the opportunity to meet him in 2012. This day is special for me. Rain is also present this morning. Can not complain. Better it rains today than tomorrow, at the race day. The pitlane is full of fans. The JMW Motorsport‘s drivers took the opportunity to sign some posters for fans coming to admire the car number 66.
In the early afternoon, Kevin, Olivier and Xavier, the three friends mentioned earlier arrive. The meeting point are just in front of the JMW Motorsport‘s box. The team’s drivers meet for some car setup adjustments before the race. After a few minutes I heard a voice from the pitlane. This is Kevin calling me. I smiled and approached him to greet him. Olivier and Xavier arrived in the same time. We talk a bit before heading out to visit the pit lane together, where we talk about meeting point for the next day. It will be “not far behind the paddock before the start of the race”. Minutes pass, and I have to leave them to join the team in the city of Le Mans for the drivers parade.
On the road we will cross some McLaren P1, Lamborghini Aventador and some Porsche and Ferrari. Some fortuned spectators enjoy this event to exhibit their most beautiful car in public. Having assumed full eyes on the road, we arrive at the parking lot where all drivers are before the start of the parade.
The crowd is present. Few minutes remaining. The drivers are preparing amid classic cars provided to transport drivers on the road of the parade. So we go on the road of the parade to see them. The city of Le Mans welcomes thousands of fans. The drivers passage takes place in a festive atmosphere, except the passage of Patrick Dempsey, actor of Grey’s Anatomy and GTE AM driver, where the party gives way to the hysteria of the women in the public.
Once the drivers of the number 66 car passed, we do not wait too long to take the way back, just to avoid traffic jams at the end of the parade. We go to the the circuit to eat in a restaurant behind the paddocks. After about one hour, pilots join us. Michael arrives without his shoes after throwing them in the public. The three drivers are smiling, surprised by the amount of fans came to see the parade in the streets of Le Mans.
After this long dinner, we go back to the chateau to sleep before the big day, the day when the race of the year start.
